INTERNSHIPS, VOLUNTEERS AND FELLOWSHIPS
SSBx is always looking for competent and committed volunteers and interns
to help us do our work.
Interns are given a large amount of responsibility, and most
intern positions require a 10-20 hour commitment per
week for the school year, or 35 hours per week during the summer months.
Fellowships are sponsored internships that offer stipends.
SSBx is able to host fellows, and we have a successful
track record in this area. Obtaining sponsorship is the responsibility
of the Fellow.
Volunteers are required for many events and projects.
A wide variety of skills, time commitments, and
interests may be catered for.
Specific internships
and volunteer positions, based on current operational
requirements, may be advertised below.
INTERNSHIPS
Interns will gain experience working
in a pre-eminent environmental
justice organization dedicated to ending discrimination against South
Bronx residents. A high degree
of exposure to environmental justice issues will be gained in a busy,
dynamic setting. Interns will
participate in staff meetings at which strategy is determined and
plans are made. SSBx Interns receive close supervision and work side
by side with staff members working on important issues and projects.
Interns are given a large amount of responsibility, and most intern
positions require a 10-20
hour commitment per week during the school year, or 35 hours per
week during the summer months.
It’s not all glamour: there will
be filing, copying and
other administrative and support tasks to be done. But you will
be appreciated, and more responsibility will be offered depending
on the length of your internship, and if you’re up for it.
